The Rafto Foundation is a non-profit organization dedicated to the global promotion of human rights. The Foundation's work includes awarding the annual Rafto Prize, give support to human rights defenders and give students human rights and democracy education.

The Rafto Foundation holds office at the Rafto House in Bergen. Our postal address is: Menneskerettighetenes plass 1, 5007 Bergen, Norway.
BOARD OF DIRECTORS
Consists of members with various backgrounds, including activists, academics, professionals working in the public or private sector, and representatives of the Rafto Staff and Prize Committee. The Board members work without remuneration. The Board is independent and self-recruiting. In addition to the legally defined work, the Board provides the final approval of candidates for the Rafto Prize nominated by the Rafto Prize committee.

The Committee Members work without remuneration, and constitute an independent and self-recruiting body within the framework of the Rafto Foundation.The duties of the committee are to evaluate and nominate candidates for the Rafto Prize, and present these for the Board of Directors.

THE RAFTO HOUSE
The Rafto House Foundation (SERH) is the owner of the Rafto House, where the Rafto Foundation holds office. SEHR was established in 1997, and the Chair is Jan Ramstad, Dag Stiegler is board member.

THE RAFTO FUND
The Rafto Fund was established in 2008, and the main purpose is to make funds available to the Rafto Foundation in connection with the annual Rafto Prize. The board of Fund consists of Tom O. Kleppestø (chairman), Elin Bull Stokke, Siri P. Strandenes and Alexander Cappelen.

A considerable number of individuals and organisations provide free or subsidised services of various kinds for the Rafto Foundation.
