Join our Breaksfast meeting in Bergen on Childhood in the Occupied Palestinian Territories Monday 7 at 8:30 AM (CEST) at the Rafto House.

The situation in Palestine is rapidly deteriorating after Israel broke the ceasefire on Tuesday March 18th. Since then, they have resumed their relentless bombing of Gaza. One week in, Save the Children says that more than 270 children have been killed, marking some of “the deadliest days for children since the war began”.

Palestinian children bear the heaviest brunt in a war that has by many been called “a war on children”. Defence for Children International – Palestine (DCIP), 2023 Rafto Prize Laureate, is a human rights organization dedicated to promoting and protecting the human rights of Palestinian children. Since 1991, DCIP has investigated, documented and exposed grave human rights violations against children, provided legal aid, and advocated for accountability.

Despite facing significant pressure, the organization remains a crucial voice for Palestinian children´s rights. In recognition of their vital work, we invite you to join us for a breakfast meeting on Monday, April 7th, as we mark the International Day of Solidarity with the Palestinian Child.

We will shed light on the deteriorating situation and how this affects Palestinian children. We will hear from Kjersti G. Berg, Middle East researcher specialised on Palestine-Israel, and Geir Kjell Andersland, lawyer and head of the Children's Rights Committee in the International Commission of Jurists (ICJ) – Norway.

The conversation will be led by Ingrid Rosland, Head of Programmes at Rafto.A small breakfast will be served at the meeting.

We hope to see you at 8.30 on Monday, 7th of April!
